Can anybody please tell me how to turn off the "content was blocked because
it was not signed by a valid security certificate" warning?

This warning comes up with several trusted source websites that I use daily,
and I am fed up with this spurious warning.

Windows version? IE version? Assuming IE7, is the most recent Root
Certificate update installed?

Vista, IE7.

I don't know what you mean by "Root Certificate" thingy, but I imagine it is
installed as I have my computer set to download and install all updates
automatically.

One site I look at daily is this one if anybody wants to try themselves -
don't worry it is just a French local government site:

Vista or Vista SP1?

Manually check for Windows Updates | If an Optional "Root Certificates"
update is available, opt to install it. Follow all prompts.

[Unfortunately, the problem /is/ with the web-page's Certificate(s).]

Everything is definitely completely up to date.

Any workarounds to get rid of this annoyance? It serves no purpose at all to
me, because if I see it again I am just going to click through it.

If this is a necessary security message, Microsoft need to rethink their
security strategy as just interrupting browsing in this way with complicated
geeky messages achievs nothing at all to users like me. I already have UAC
turned off, I have "ClickYes" installed in Outlook to remove the dumb
interruption messages on that program.

"Everything is...up to date" does not answer my questions, Rich.

That being said, you could set Internet Explorer not to "warn about invalid
site certificates" but I would not do this, as it opens an unacceptable
security risk.

Hello,

I do have all available internet explorer updates installed.

I will try that setting that you suggest. What are the potential risks? I
don't visit risky sites, and I have virus software - so am I really taking a
risk??

One site I look at daily is this one if anybody wants to try
http://www.marchespublics-cg06.fr/
The designer of the website has no clue how certificates work and shouldn't
be using them. That page doesn't use a cert but it uses frames that do. The
frames refer to a secure site by IP address, not name, and that site
returns the self-signed cert. Your browser needs to match the site name to
the cert, but it can't do that if the reference is made by address. The
site designer needs to fix the home page to use a name, not an address, or
stop requiring secure connection to the frameset pages.

If this is a local government, then I sure wouldn't trust that government
with any secure information. Somebody needs to sic an auditor on them.

Vista, IE7.
I don't know what you mean by "Root Certificate" thingy, but I imagine it is
installed as I have my computer set to download and install all updates
automatically.

Vista or Vista SP1?
Manually check for Windows Updates | If an Optional "Root Certificates"
update is available, opt to install it. Follow all prompts.

[To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.]
"Everything is...up to date" does not answer my questions, Rich.
That being said, you could set Internet Explorer not to "warn about invalid
site certificates" but I would not do this, as it opens an unacceptable
security risk.

Post by Kenneth Porter
The designer of the website has no clue how certificates work and shouldn't
be using them. That page doesn't use a cert but it uses frames that do. The
frames refer to a secure site by IP address, not name, and that site
returns the self-signed cert. Your browser needs to match the site name to
the cert, but it can't do that if the reference is made by address. The
site designer needs to fix the home page to use a name, not an address, or
stop requiring secure connection to the frameset pages.
If this is a local government, then I sure wouldn't trust that government
with any secure information. Somebody needs to sic an auditor on them.

Can anybody please tell me how to turn off the "content was blocked because
it was not signed by a valid security certificate" warning?
This warning comes up with several trusted source websites that I use daily,
and I am fed up with this spurious warning.
Hi for me I get:
Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate. Every time I try to buy gold in my favorite game Dragon Pals which is used to buy special in game items. But have not run into any sites not being able to access.
